The Recovery Process in Brief

We can help you recover from disasters with:

  • Virus Attack Repair,

  • and accidental file deletion recovery.

  • Contact us first
    - to ensure we are ready to do the work with the urgency to suit your needs.
    - to get instructions as to what you should do/not do.
  • Bring your "box" to us, or send your hard disk well-protected by ultra-careful transport.
  • This task is more complicated and therefore much more expensive to do on site, but we can do the work on your site if you require it.
  • We will do an initial assessment, so we know what File System is affected, how much damage has occurred and the difficulty of the recovery process. This will influence the chance of recovery and our charges.
  • Our initial assessment will cost from $55 to $110.00 inc. depending on the media
  • After the initial assessment we can provide a rough estimate of probable costs to continue the process.
  • We generally make a complete image of your disk for security.
  • We will then create an appropriate version of our own specially developed software to suit the nature of the damage and the Operating System.
  • We then run the software over the disk.
This can recover a large number of deleted directories and files.
  • The original state of the file system and what has happened to it since the deletions determines how successful the recovery can be, and how complete the recovered files will be.
  • Typical Example 1:
A Windows 98 PC appeared to have no file system at all after a virus attack.
We were able to recover 26,759 files in 3748 directories, for a total of size of 6.5GB.
Our software ran for several hours to achieve this recovery, which included working files which had not been backed up ever. Some were precious year 12 assignments with no final copy!
  • Typical Example 2:
A Windows 98 PC only had 2 empty directories left on it after a virus attack.
We were able to recover 14,309 Files in 1,160 directories, for a total of size of 1.52GB.
The software ran for many hours to achieve this recovery, which included most of the customer's working files, which had not been backed up for some time!
  • Typical Example 3:
A Windows 98 Laptop only had an empty Windows directory left on it after a virus attack.
We were able to recover 25,627 Files in 3,897 directories, for a total of size of 3.0GB.
The software ran for over a day to achieve this recovery, which included files absolutely vital to the customer's business, which had not been backed up at all!
  • Typical Example 4:
A Linux ® Server was dead after 2 of 4 Raid Disks failed.
The problem was worsened by by incorrect attempts to do a recovery when wrong Raid controller settings were assumed and the disks altered.
We were able to recover the full raid system from the remaining 2 disks after correcting the second problem. The Whole Server was recovered with only a few active files damaged.
The software ran for over 2 days to achieve this recovery!
  • Our charges will be dependent on the difficulty of recovering the files, and influenced by the file system they are on (e.g Windows 98, Windows NT / 2000 / XP/ Vista/ Seven, Linux, Sun)
Even if your lost files are "like gold" to you, we will not exaggerate our charges.
  • If really important but not backed up files are severely damaged, the software may not be able to recover them. We can try to find the pieces and put them together for a time-based cost, which will be then higher.
